Blawnin Clancy is a visual artist interested in exploring remote landscapes. Her work is informed by the sea, geography, geology and an interest in contemporary nature writing. She has travelled to artist residencies in rural Spain, Portugal and Canada, most recently doing a month-long solo residency set in the ruins of an abandoned fishing village on the west coast of Iceland. Born in New York City and growing up in a peripatetic family, childhood was spent in a migratory pattern. Her family lived in Ring for the summer and returned to the US for the school term. Blawnin’s late father Tom was a founding member of the Irish folk group The Clancy Brothers and an appreciation for all forms of the arts were instilled in her at an early age. She studied at the Crawford College of Art, Cork and graduated from NCAD, Dublin with an Honours Degree in Craft Design. She has been exhibiting paintings since 2001 and exhibited work at the 193rd RHA Annual Exhibition, Dublin in 2023. Her work forms part of the collections of the Health and Social Care Northern Ireland, Health Service Executive Ireland and Waterford City & County Council. Blawnin Clancy lives and works in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Ireland.
